I’ve heard a lot of stories lately about those of you who want to stay pure, but are having a hard time, so I thought I’d share a real example of true love waits. This is David and Kassidy Thomas. Most of you probably know David because of football, for the Texas Longhorns, New Orleans Saints, or the New England Patriots,  but he’s way much more than just a sports figure. I don’t know them, but they went to my school and Kassidy went to my church camp. I’ve heard their story a few times from one of my bible teachers named Jackie, who knew them and married them. David and Kassidy met in eighth grade, and started dating when they were Juniors in high school. When they started dating, they decided they wanted to do things God’s way, so they went to Jackie (their youth minister at the time) and showed him a contract. It was a purity contract, promising that their relationship would honor God and that they would wait until marriage. This is bold for a few kids my age, and then, they told people about it. They told their parents and friends and made sure people knew, they knew they were less likely to mess up if people knew their promise. Jackie even said that David came to him in his own time and made lists of things he could do to make sure he kept his promise to Kassidy. That’s right ladies, there is guys like this out there! They decided to go to the University of Texas together, and throughout the time they spent there, they made sure they kept their vows, taking time of prayer together. David proposed in one of their favorite prayer spots at sunset, and a year later, Jackie married them. They now have two beautiful sons. This is a relationship based on God, and they are living proof that it’s the strongest kind, staying pure for 6 years before marriage. The moral of the story is, guys: a christian girl will value it so much if you step up in the relationship and say that it’s going to have boundaries and that you promise to follow those boundaries, if you want to win her heart, that’s what you should do even though it could be uncomfortable to talk about. Girls: don’t settle for anything less than you deserve, even though it seems hopeless sometimes, there are guys like this out there who will treasure you and love you the way you were meant to be loved. Temptations will always arise, but waiting is the way God intended it to be, and it will be well worth it. :)
